My roots
Raised in Baker
I am the son of Aurora and Juventino, Mexican immigrants who taught me how to build a good life: with patience, with your hands, and with the people beside you.
They immigrated and worked themselves tired so I could stand in rooms they were never invited into.
My education
Educated by this city
Denver Public Schools, class of South High (Go South!). A Gates Millennium Scholar at Colorado College and CU Boulder, then three years in a PhD program studying how communities change. I missed my parents, and after years of studying community from afar, I wanted to come home and build one in concrete and steel.

My build
Came home to build
Leading a coalition that inspired the Latino Cultural Arts Center, we turned a grassroots vision into a permanent cultural home. In Fall 2026 it becomes a launchpad for families and the next generation of mental health, environmental, and creative leaders.

Accountability written into law
On the Denver Citizens Oversight Board, I helped pass a new ordinance that subjects police misconduct settlements to public scrutiny: a permanent change in how the city answers to the people it serves.

A framework adopted for the river
I co-authored the “River Sisters” framework, adopted in the West Denver Area Plan in 2023: community-driven planning for parks, flood resilience, and opportunity along the South Platte.

A cultural center, built and funded
I led the coalition behind the Latino Cultural Arts Center: seven years, $8 million raised for construction and another $3 million for operations and programs, and a permanent home for our community’s culture.

Today I’m a proud Harvey Park homeowner, running for City Council At-Large the way I intend to serve: no corporate money, powered by neighbors, answering only to you. As your city council member, I will fight for the family that wants to stay, the small business ready to grow, and the kid who deserves a future here.
